Cal.AI — AI calorie & food tracker · iPhone and Apple Watch app on the App Store · Last updated: October 3, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and BYTEMEDIA PTE. LTD., the developer
that publishes the Cal.AI app for iPhone and its Apple Watch companion app on the App Store ("Cal.AI", "we", "us"). They
govern your use of the app and the Cal.AI service at cal.moonga.me that the app talks to (together, the "Service"). By
installing or using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
At a glance (this summary does not replace the full Terms)
You must be at least 16 years old to use Cal.AI.
Calorie and nutrient values are estimates, not medical advice. See Section 5.
The Cal.AI subscription is optional and billed by Apple. It renews automatically
until you cancel in your App Store account settings. See Section 4.
Cal.AI shows no third-party advertisements.
1. Who can use Cal.AI
You must be at least 16 years old. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Service
only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
The Service is for your personal, non-commercial use.
2. The Service
Cal.AI is a calorie and nutrition tracker. It lets you:
photograph a meal and receive an AI-generated estimate of its calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat;
scan a product barcode, search a nutrition database, or enter foods manually;
keep a food diary and weight log and view your progress, including a summary on your paired Apple Watch;
get daily calorie and macro targets calculated from the answers you give during setup, and optionally follow a
carb-cycling plan;
optionally connect Apple Health so the app can read (never write) your active energy, steps and
weight;
receive meal reminders and other notifications you have allowed.
Cal.AI does not show third-party advertisements. We may add, change or remove features over time, and the Service may
occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control.
3. Your account
Sign-in. Finishing setup and saving your plan requires signing in with Apple or with Google. Cal.AI
does not create a separate password; your Cal.AI account is tied to the Apple or Google account you sign in with, and
you are responsible for keeping that account secure.
Accurate information. The targets Cal.AI calculates depend on the information you provide (such as
age, height, weight and activity level). Please provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
Signing out. You can sign out at any time in the app. Data stored on your device, such as your food
diary, stays on the device.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Me › Account › Delete
Account) or by following the steps at
cal.moonga.me/delete-account.html. What is deleted and what is
kept is described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting your account or deleting the app does not cancel an App
Store subscription — cancel it in your App Store account settings first (Section 4).
4. Subscription and payments
4.1 What is free and what is paid
You can use Cal.AI without paying. Logging by barcode, food search and manual entry and the food diary are available
without a subscription, together with a limited number of free AI photo scans. The Cal.AI subscription
is an optional auto-renewable subscription that removes the limit on AI photo scans. The benefits included in the
subscription are those described on the purchase screen at the time you subscribe.
4.2 Billing
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through In-App Purchase. We do not receive or store your
payment card details.
The subscription is offered with monthly and yearly periods and, where shown, a 3-month period. The title, price,
currency and length of each plan are shown on the purchase screen before you confirm.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase or, if you start with a free trial, when the
trial ends.
4.3 Automatic renewal
Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and at the then-current price unless it is
cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24
hours before the end of the current period.
4.4 Free trial
A free trial may be offered to new subscribers that Apple reports as eligible. The length of the trial and the price
that will be charged when it ends are shown by Apple before you confirm the purchase. If you do not cancel at
least 24 hours before the trial ends, you are charged the plan price and the subscription renews automatically
as described above. Eligibility for a free trial is determined by Apple.
4.5 How to cancel
On your iPhone open Settings › tap your name › Subscriptions › Cal.AI › Cancel Subscription, or
open the App Store › tap your profile picture › Subscriptions.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period (or free trial) to avoid being charged for the next
one.
After you cancel, the subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for; it then
stops and you are not charged again.
Deleting the app, signing out or deleting your Cal.AI account does not cancel the subscription.
4.6 Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple, and refund requests are handled by Apple at
reportaproblem.apple.com. Except where the law gives you a right to a
refund, payments are non-refundable and we do not provide refunds or credits for partly used periods. If something went
wrong with a purchase, email us at kirbyyue@gmail.com and we will help.
4.7 Price changes and restoring purchases
If we change the price of a subscription, Apple will notify you in advance, and, where Apple requires it, the new
price applies only after you accept it.
A subscription is linked to the first Cal.AI account that activates it. If you reinstall the app or change device,
sign in with the same account and use Restore purchases on the purchase screen.
5. Health and nutrition disclaimer
Not medical advice, not a medical device. Cal.AI provides general nutrition and wellness information
only. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition and is not a substitute for advice from a
doctor, dietitian or other qualified professional.
Estimates. Calorie and nutrient values, daily targets, goal dates and weight projections are
estimates. Results from photos depend on the image, the portion size and how the food was prepared, and individual
results vary. We do not promise any particular weight or health outcome.
Talk to a professional first before making significant changes to your diet or activity, especially
if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, are under 18, have a medical condition such as diabetes, take medication, or have
or have had an eating disorder.
Allergies and food safety. Cal.AI does not detect allergens and cannot tell you whether a food is
safe for you. Always check ingredients and labels yourself.
Do not use Cal.AI for extreme dieting. If you feel unwell, or your weight is outside a healthy
range, stop and seek professional advice.
Emergencies. Cal.AI cannot detect or respond to a medical emergency. If you think you are having
one, contact your local emergency services immediately.
6. AI-generated results
Food recognition and nutrition estimates from photos are produced by artificial intelligence and can be wrong: foods
may be misidentified and portions misjudged. Review each result and correct it with Fix results where needed
before relying on it. You are responsible for decisions you make based on the information in the app.
7. Your content
"Your content" means the food photos, food names, barcodes, diary entries and profile answers you submit.
You keep all rights in your content. You give us permission to process it only as needed to provide the Service to
you — for example, sending a food photo to our AI processing provider to produce an estimate — as described in the
Privacy Policy. We do not publish your content, sell it, or share it with other users.
Only submit content you have the right to use, and do not submit anything unlawful.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms;
copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows this despite these Terms;
access the Service by automated means, scrape it, or call our servers other than through the app;
bypass or attempt to bypass scan limits, subscription checks or security measures;
interfere with or overload the Service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it or to other users' data;
resell, rent or commercially exploit the Service.
9. Apple Health
Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you connect it, Cal.AI only reads the data types you allow and never writes to
Apple Health. You can remove access at any time in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices. How this data is used,
stored and retained is described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Third-party services and links
The Service relies on services provided by others, including the App Store (distribution and billing), Sign in with
Apple, Google Sign-In, Apple Health, Firebase and OpenAI (which analyzes the food photos you submit, as described in the
Privacy Policy), and it may link to third-party websites such as public health
information pages. Those services and sites are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not
responsible for them. You must comply with any third-party terms that apply to you when you use the app.
11. Intellectual property and licence
The app and the Service, including their software, design, text and graphics, belong to us or our licensors and are
protected by law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable
licence to install and use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules
in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the app may also be used by other accounts associated with
the purchaser through Family Sharing. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. If you believe something
in the app infringes your rights, contact us at kirbyyue@gmail.com.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account as described in Section 3.
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, if we are required to by law,
or if we discontinue the Service. Where reasonable we will give you notice.
If we discontinue the Service, we will stop future renewals of active subscriptions. If you have paid for a period
that runs past the discontinuation date, you may request a refund for the unused part from Apple at
reportaproblem.apple.com or by emailing us.
Sections that by their nature should continue after termination (including Sections 5, 13, 14, 15 and 18) continue
to apply.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any
kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and
non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or
punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability for any claim
relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, or any
rights you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country where you live.
15. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to compensate us for losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of
these Terms or your unlawful use of the Service.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last
updated" date. If the changes are significant, we will notify you in the app. If you continue to use the Service after
the updated Terms take effect, you accept them; if you do not agree, stop using the Service and cancel any subscription.
17. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent.
18. Apple-specific terms
The following applies because you obtained the app from the Apple App Store:
These Terms are between you and BYTEMEDIA PTE. LTD. only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). We, not Apple, are
solely responsible for the app and its content.
We are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services for the app, as described in these
Terms or as required by applicable law. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide any maintenance or support
services for the app.
We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not
effectively disclaimed in Section 13. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and
Apple will refund the purchase price of the app (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no
other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs
or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our sole responsibility.
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession
or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any legal or regulatory
requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation, including in connection with the app's
use of the HealthKit framework.
If a third party claims that the app or your possession and use of it infringes its intellectual property rights,
we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
You represent that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been
designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S.
Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple
has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party
beneficiary.
